Michael Cleland is currently the Chair of the Board of the Canadian Energy Research Institute, a Senior Fellow of the University of Ottawa’s Positive Energy project, a board member of QUEST (Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow). He was formerly President and CEO of the Canadian Gas Association, as well as the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA). Prior to that he served in several senior positions in the federal government including Assistant Deputy Minister for the Energy Sector at Natural Resources Canada. He is the 2015 recipient of the Energy Council of Canada’s Canadian Energy Person of the Year Award.
The Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) was founded in 1975 as an independent, registered charitable organization specializing in the analysis of energy economics and related environmental policy issues in the energy production, transportation, and consumption sectors.
